Class Vendor: This class is available for contracted delivery from MU Fire Rescue Training Institute - MUFRTI. Contracted Price: $2500.  

Utility Terrain Vehicles (UTV) and All Terrain Vehicles (ATV) have gained wider acceptance and use in both fire service and EMS. These vehicles can help responders take quicker action with less physical exhaustion of department members. These vehicles not only help the EMS providers or firefighters that use them, but also benefit the people served by the emergency service organization. Adding UTVs and ATVs to an Emergency Services Operations (ESO) fleet can provide great benefits but might also present safety issues if the vehicles have not been properly trained in the operation and maintenance. This safety program was developed to provide refresher training for ESOs that use these types of specialty vehicles.

Course Objectives: This program was developed as a refresher course for organizations that use UTV/ATVs. Please refer to the owner’s manual from the manufacturer for the specific type and model and always follow manufacturer’s recommended practices. VFIS strongly suggests that your organization require every operator to take a basic safety course. Contact your dealer or state agency for information about safety training. In addition to safety training, these courses will provide you with information about laws and regulations concerning the operation of UTV/ATVs in your area or state.
