Full Description
This 8-hour course looks at fire ignition, growth, and spread from a scientific perspective.  This course is designed to provide chief officers, company officers and experienced firefighters with an advanced and critical overview of the following topics:

•        The science of fire growth and spread
•        Heat transfer, heat flux, and flashover
•        Ventilation, air entrainment, and flow path
•        "Pushing fire" with exterior streams
•        Anticipating hostile fire events
•        Fighting fire with fire (science)

Participants should have a basic knowledge of fire behavior and be familiar with recent research conducted by the NFPA, NIST, and UL on fire dynamics.

This course has been approved by the Missouri Division of Fire Safety for 8 hours of CEU credit toward fire instructor, fire investigator, and/or fire inspector re-certifications.

Instructor Bio:
Chuck Perry retired as a battalion chief with the Independence (MO) Fire Department. He currently serves as the Fire Science Technology Coordinator for MCC Blue River Public Safety Institute. In addition, Chuck serves as a subject matter expert for Jones & Bartlett Public Safety Group publications and for several Missouri Division of Fire Safety certification program updates.
