Class Vendor: This class is available for contracted delivery from MU Fire Rescue Training Institute - MUFRTI. Contracted Price: $3300.

The purpose of this course is to provide those individuals who have completed the training requirement of Rope Rescue.  This refresher is designed to review anchors, hauling and lowering systems, high-lines, and to allow participants practical application of those skills.  The course includes several scenarios with various hazards and complexities. This course meets continuing education requirements for Missouri Division of Fire Safety NFPA 1006, Rope Rescue certification.

Course Objectives: Demonstrate knot tying. Discuss considerations of anchor selection. Identify safety concerns of hauling and lowering systems. Build and operate the telpher high-line system. Build and operate the reeving high-line system.

Student Pre-requisites: Student must have successfully completed a Technical Rescuer: Rope I and Rope II course or equivalent.

Host agency provides the following: Hosting organizations are required to have access to training grounds that allow for the elevation of rescue teams to work over an edge.  Scenarios should include the ability to move a perceived patient and/or rescuer a minimum of 50’ vertically while navigating an edge transition, for example, a fire department training tower or equivalent natural cliff, or ravine.  Suitable restroom facilities should available as well as classroom accommodations within a reasonable distance to the training grounds. Classroom with computer and data projector access.

Student provides the following: Participants should bring helmet suitable for work at height with a functioning chin strap and gloves. (NFPA 1983, compliant personal Class III: Full Body Harnesses may be used at the discretion of the instructors.) Please assure that all personal equipment is sufficiently marked for ownership.
