Class Vendor: This class is available for contracted delivery from MU Fire Rescue Training Institute - MUFRTI. Contracted Price: $6000.

This course will explain, demonstrate, and provide hands-on skills training in fire ground operations necessary in interior structural fire attack. Topics include ICS, size-up, search and rescue, ventilation, forcible entry and hose stream management. This course will be taught in a lecture/practical format, including “live” fire training evolutions.

Course Objectives: Use the Incident Management System for a typical residential fire. Practice “Two-in/Two-out” attack and RIT team actions as defined by OSHA 29CFR1910.134, NFPA 1500, and NFPA 1403. Working as member of a team the student will be able to ladder a simulated structure and advance and retrieve hose lines while working from ladders and stairs. Working as a member of a hose line team the student will be able to demonstrate the proper interior fire attack given various fire conditions. Coordinate an interior structure fire attack operation, as a member of a fire attack team.  Working as a member of a search team the student will be able to demonstrate proper search and rescue techniques of simulated victims from a structure fire. Student will be able to demonstrate horizontal and vertical ventilation of a structure.

Student Pre-requisites: Basic Fire Fighter Skills, Introduction to the Fire Service or Firefighter I certification. Equivalent programs will be considered with documentation of completion.

Host agency provides the following: 1 Pumpers, Water supply, 1 1/2" or 1 3/4", Hose and Supply hose, Classroom with computer and data projector access.  

Student provides the following: NFPA 1971 compliant firefighting ensemble and NFPA 1981   compliant SCBA with spare cylinder.
