Multiple casualty incidents tax most departments equipment and personnel resources. Is your agency prepared? This course is designed to introduce participants to the difficult problem of handling an incident with multiple patients. The most frequent of these are school bus accidents. Instructors will demonstrate techniques of extrication, patient handling and coordinating multiple agencies. Participants will have the opportunity to apply these skills and concepts in practical applications involving a school bus.

Course Objectives: To acquaint the student with construction, size-up, command procedures and appropriate rescue tools to use in school bus extrication.

Student Pre-requisites: Student must have successfully completed a Vehicle Rescue Technician course or Fire Fighter II course.

Prerequisites: Student must have successfully completed a Vehicle Rescue Technician course or Fire Fighter II course.

Resources Required: Host agency provides the following: 2 school buses, 3 sets of power hydraulic rescue equipment, 2 sets of air bags with air supply, 2 sets of air chisels with air supply, cribbing, 2 saw-zall with 24-7" extra blades, hydrant line, 2 come-a-longs with chains, 2 flat head axe, 2 sledge hammers, generator, 2 roof ladders . Classroom with computer and data projector access.

Student provides the following: NFPA 1971 compliant firefighting ensemble, including turnout pants, coat, boots, helmet, gloves, and eye protection
