Full Description
This course addresses the requirements for Fire Investigator found in NFPA 1033, Standard for Professional Qualifications for Fire Investigator, 2022 Edition.

Prerequisites
Missouri Division of Fire Safety Firefighter I or Fire Inspector I certification, or completion of classes in the areas of Fire Behavior, Building Construction, and Hazardous Materials Awareness and/or Hazardous Materials for Inspectors.

Student must have a minimum of three years’ experience in some phase of fire service, fire prevention, fire investigation or criminal investigation.  Experience may be in the public or private sector.  A letter of recommendation for course attendance and subsequent certification is required from the applicant’s supervisor, listing the applicant’s job description and length of service.

Resources Required
Students will need to provide their own copy of NFPA 921 and 1033 for the class. The course text from Jones and Bartlett will be provided.

Dates for the in-seat portion of the course are October 15 and December 2-6, 0800-1700 hours daily.

This course is NOT a first-come, first enrolled course.  All applications are reviewed and a committee from the Division of Fire Safety's Training Unit determines final selection of attendees.

Students must hold a MODFS certification in Firefighter I or Inspector I, or must have completed courses in Fire Behavior, Building Construction, and HazMat Awareness and/or Hazardous Materials for Fire Inspectors.
